Interfaith week is already well underway, even though technically it nationally only starts today (at the guild we decided to do more of an interfaith ten days...) and is going well!
On Wednesday the coexistence trust, the Tony Blair foundation and the three faiths forum came to speak and this week there are different faith and culture societies outside spar in the guild every day giving us a taster of their religion or background.
Join in, get involved and follow the 'faith and culture at the guild of students' for more details of upcoming events with food, drink, music and lots of celebrating as well as films, debates and discussions surrounding different issues relating to faith and culture and its role in an often secular and multi cultural society.

Heyyyy!

My blog is finally up and running, training is finished and I even managed to find my way to the office for the first time without getting lost in the building. So things are looking up...

Since I was elected, life has been fun and busy, have been in 6 countries, managed somehow to pass the year, moved house, been to 5 close friends weddings and laughed alot.
However, on a non personal level and back to my job, the EU election results were not particularly great and there were many racist issues in Birmingham, through the summer and, as a student who came to complain to me yesterday explained, even racism on campus still sadly exists.
So suprise, suprise, there is still work to be done.

I've been keeping busy with plans for national interfaith week which is coming up in November with stalls, food, drink, speakers, debates, football tournaments and many more events to celebrate the religious and cultural diversity that we have on campus.
If you or your society has not been contacted and you would like to get involved - please let me know!!

I'm excited as I hope this will be the first of many positive events to be involved with on campus and can't wait for the year ahead :-) x
